Usage Rate Guide
For each type of service, the cost of usage rights for photographs is calculated based on the photographer’s daily rate and the type of project
1. Catalog Usage
- Definition: Photographs intended for e-commerce platforms, product listings, or similar uses with high-volume content.
- Usage Fee:50% of the day rate.
- Example: If the day rate is $2000, the usage fee for the catalog would be $1000 per day of shooting.
2. Lookbook Usage
- Definition: Styled editorial-style images created to showcase a collection, typically used for online or print lookbooks.
- Usage Fee: 100% of the day rate.
- Example: If the day rate is $2000, the usage fee for the lookbook would be $2000 per day of shooting.
3. Campaign Usage
- Definition: High-impact advertising images used for brand marketing across multiple platforms, including digital, print, and outdoor ads.
- Usage Fee: from 3x the day rate (minimum).
- Example: If the day rate is $2000, the usage fee for a campaign would be $6000+ per day of shooting.
Important Notes
- Negotiation Flexibility: Prices can be adjusted based on exclusivity, market, and duration of usage.
- Exclusivity & Buyout: Campaigns may require exclusivity clauses or full copyright buyouts, increasing the usage fee.
- Contracts: Ensure all usage rights are clearly outlined in the contract, including specific platforms, duration, and geographical coverage.
